Looking for Akathist to John the Theologian
« on: December 09, 2005, 01:16:08 AM »
I can't find the akathist to John the Theologian anywhere on the net.  Does anyone know how I could get it?  Is it somewhere online that I just haven't found?

I'll see if I can find it next week at school (when I get back from my extended weekend)...
"If you are going to serve the Lord, be prepared for times when you will be put to the test. Be sincere and determined. Keep calm when trouble comes. Stay with the Lord; never abandon Him and you will be prosperous at the end of your days. Accept whatever happens to you. Even if you suffer humiliation, be patient. Gold is tested by fire and human character is tested in the furnace of humiliation. Trust the Lord and He will help you. Walk straight in His ways and put your hope in Him. " Sir 2:1-6

Also, I'd like to get a CD of the Divine Liturgy in English; any recommendations?

Some parishes have recorded their own liturgies. You could check to see if you parish has done that.

There are a few that have streaming liturgies as well... I don't remember if there are links for them on goarch.org or not.

Here's another thing I'm looking for:
 S. Trubachev's setting of "Rejoice O Virgin"
I have recordings but I'm looking for the sheet music.  Anyone have any ideas?

1) The Book of Akathists published by Holy Trinity Monastery, Jordanville, includes the akathist to St John.
2) Check out this website for liturgical CD's and sheet music
