The RCC Pope has opened a bishops' meeting on whether to allow Roman Catholic priests to get married.

If they're still allowed to molest children, I say no.
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

I think it will go quick from here. In five years you will have female "bishops".

Oh, for Pete's sake.
Blessed Nazarius practiced the ascetic life. His clothes were tattered. He wore his shoes without removing them for six years.

THE OPINIONS HERE MAY NOT REFLECT THE ACTUAL OR PERCEIVED ORTHODOX CHURCH

Take a breath, read Ecclesiastes 1:9.

Poultice the dead.
And what about those priests who have already taken orders?

While I wouldn't mind married priests exercised in an analogous fashion to Eastern Orthodoxy, or even how it is in Byzantine Catholic Churches (where permission is required from the Bishop),

Considering how unapologetically and authoritarian the baby was thrown out with the bathwater with the "liturgical restorationism" and "adaptation to the modern world" in Vatican II, I anticipate pretty horrible results. It wouldn't surprise me if Rome allowed Priests to get married after ordination and created some theology where the Priest's power of consecration is derived from the people in attendance, leading the way to a "valid" theological opinion that the layperson and priest are only different insofar as hierarchy is concerned, and that Priests and laity can rapidly switch roles if the Bishop okays it.

I don't think the question of women priests will be directly addressed; at worst, they will find some other way to "increase participation" of women to such a degree that the consecration essentially requires women, and from that goalpost they will then ordain women.

From that goalpost will be the complete abolishment of hierarchy for the purposes of the Saint slaying the dragon of "clericalism."

This is assuming that God doesn't permit some "imperial Pope" to take the throne and fix this mess.

Holy hieromartyr Arason Jon, pray for us!

The two obvious major concerns are:
- They're going to have to pay married priests way more to accommodate the large families which they will probably have.
- Some Catholics would probably freak out and leave their church.

Either way, it's Pope Francis' Church and it is up to him to run it as he sees fit.

Schism seems in the air under Pope Francis, while clerical celibacy always seem forced on the clergy and wasn't part of the early Church, o can see Trade Catholics bolting.

Specifically in the Roman Rite... Although it would only be for a certain region of the world at this time.

And technically there are a handful of Roman Rite married priests because of the pastoral provision from way back.
