On A Lighter Note
« on: November 14, 2005, 10:56:06 PM »
For those of us who belong to new calendar churches the Nativity Fast begins 11/15/05.

Any thoughts or good recipes or lively banter.
Save us o' Son of God, who art risen from the dead, as we sing to thee Alleluia!

This year, why not fool your dinner guests into fasting? Any fasting food can be made to look seasonal with red and green food dyes.
If you're living a happy life as a Christian, you're doing something wrong.

Well, they certainly couldn't be accused of fasting hypocritically, since even they don't know they're fasting, only God does.
"When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matt 6:16-18)

Good reply OzGeorge

Right before a fasting period I have my own mini mardi gras. I go out and have a large Philadelphia Cheese Steak with all the trimmings.

Boy don't I lead an exciting life?  :D
