When a roman catholic converts to orthodox, what is needed? Here in Finland only a confession is necessary. The Finnish orthodox church (autonomy under EP) accepts roman catholic babtism & confirmation - economy?!?

First, one would have to aquire an Orthodox mindset and praxis. Regarding the actual reception of Catholics, it would differ from Local Church to Local Church, and in some instances from bishop to bishop. Most would probably chrismate, though some would permit only confession while others would insist on baptism.

This takes a lifetime to do....did you somehow accomplish it overnight?

No, it took about a week. Sheesh. This is like me saying "You have to repent of your sinful life to become Orthodox" and you retorting "Why, it takes a lifetime to repent!" Well yeah, but the point is that you have to start somewhere, and you have to reach some point--cross some line--where the change is discernable. For example, if you're watching pornography and think that it's perfectly fine, then you haven't attained an Orthodox mindset/praxis; if, on the other hand, you can recognize such things as bad and try to avoid such things, then you have made some progress. It may take you 20 years to finally overcome the problem, but the point is that you've taken the first step. Saints like Gregory of Nyssa and others speculated that we would continually grow for all eternity, why would anyone think that I would be advocating a low-church-protestantesque get-it-in-a-single-moment type of thing? Man, lighten up, and don't read so much into things!

Perhaps the problem, Justin is that you speak plainly sometimes.

Hey, I've been around this forum for well over three years (I can remember back when it was Byzantine.net or something like that), and Elisha has been around a long time as well. What, I haven't blown enough hot air over the past three years... I still have to go on at length about every point I try to make? Besides, that was Bush who said that he speaks plainly, I on the other hand am a self-identified egg-head.

Most would probably chrismate, though some would permit only confession while others would insist on baptism. I would add "from synod to synod" to your statement; remember, if some rogue bishop decided that the reception of Catholics would only require a round of kumbaya, then his synod would be responsible for correcting his error.

Man, lighten up, and don't read so much into things!  and likewise for you...just trying to encourage precision in statements to avoid misinterpretations.

I will give a serious answer to this question.
Here in the U.S., the Greek Archdiocese only requires that the former Catholic recite the Creed (in the correct manner!) publicly, in church. The sacrament of chrismation then follows.
I've read Bishop Kallistos Ware mention that in Russia, only a simple recitation of the creed suffices. Having never been to Russia, I cannot confirm this.

I was Baptized and Confirmed a Roman Catholic, was a practicing Episcopalian most of my adult life, I was received into the OCA by Confession and Chrismation.
