This is like me saying "You have to repent of your sinful life to become Orthodox" and you retorting "Why, it takes a lifetime to repent!" Well yeah, but the point is that you have to start somewhere, and you have to reach some point--cross some line--where the change is discernable. For example, if you're watching pornography and think that it's perfectly fine, then you haven't attained an Orthodox mindset/praxis; if, on the other hand, you can recognize such things as bad and try to avoid such things, then you have made some progress. It may take you 20 years to finally overcome the problem, but the point is that you've taken the first step. Saints like Gregory of Nyssa and others speculated that we would continually grow for all eternity, why would anyone think that I would be advocating a low-church-protestantesque get-it-in-a-single-moment type of thing? Man, lighten up, and don't read so much into things!
