aimovoroi tourkoi!

« on: October 22, 2005, 12:27:14 AM »

Today, I became a catechumen!!!  I'm just so happy incredibley happy right now, you have no idea! After years of wandering around, not feeling like I belonged anywhere, now I'm officially on my way to being Orthodox!!!  I'm going to be received into the Church either on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple or on the Feast of the Annunciation.  The priest's first suggestion was the Presenation, but then he also mentioned the Annunication as an option, and I have always really loved the story of the Annunciation, how Mary said yes to God and as a result, God became man.  It's just my favorite Bible story.  But then the priest thought that receiving me into the Church on the Feast of the Annunciation is an unnecessarily long wait.  So, he says he'll think about it and let me know on Sunday.  We're also not sure if I will need to be baptized or chrismated.  Most likely, the priest said, it will be chrismation, but I told him some very *disturbing* things about the church I was baptized in that made him decide he needs to write to the bishop to ask what to do.  So basically, I am just SO HAPPY to be a catechumen and to finally know WHEN I will become Orthodox.  Just thought I'd share.
