my godfather has given me an Ethiopian icon that depicts Yara (sp?) on the door of the icon.  I was wondering if anyone had information on the life of this saint?

nevermind, it's Yared.

But you should check out Wade in the River by Fr. Paisius Altschul. on Christianity from African to African American
