Normal convert burnout third cycle
« on: May 07, 2018, 05:14:09 PM »
I'm having a difficult time right now.

Nothing special.

Just that toxic mix of being really, really tired of trying and failing not to be too judgy about AmDox triumphalism; living far too far from the Church to have any real connection to the community; not being able to square the odd church teaching here or there with lived experience; and not having a lot of faith in institutions.

Not looking for advice or theology.

Just prayers.

Thanks.

Blessed Nazarius practiced the ascetic life. His clothes were tattered. He wore his shoes without removing them for six years.

Take a breath, read Ecclesiastes 1:9.

Lord, have mercy.
Is any of the above Orthodox?  I have no clue, so there's that.

Lord have mercy.

St. Raphael, pray for us.
My only weakness is, well, never mind

And you'll sleep, but they'll find you

Come back my dream into my arms, into my arms

London is drowning, and I live by the river

Lord, have mercy! St. Augustine, pray for us!
I just need to find out how to say it in Slavonic!

I wish I could say this is better, but in truth most of the time I feel done.

Lord, have mercy.  I'm with you in the trenches.
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

Once Christ has filled the Cross, it can never be empty again.

I am not in perfect agreement with the church about everything; frankly, I disbelieve most people who suggest they are. I suspect I will doubt some of these things — some doctrinal, some disciplinary and some simply personal — for my entire life. But I have decided to take Christ at his word when he said the gates of Hell would not prevail against his church, not matter if it is me, the rest of the laity or even the hierarchs who are standing on the wrong side of those gates on a given issue.

As long as you recite the creed without the Filioque. You can have strange believes but, I would consider you orthodox.

Lord have mercy!
Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;
                           and both come out of your mouth
