« on: April 18, 2018, 09:45:51 PM »
I have a feeling that ~ we had ~ or they had Potassium Permanganate and Glycerin ~ in the armory of the Byzantine Empire ```

If you mix the two they will combust ~ I haven't tried to see if this ~ combo will burn on water ~ or ~ if oil will have to be present ```

Greek fire ~ you can buy Potassium Permanganate at Walmart ~ while you're there pick up antifreeze ~ don't mix them ~ I have ~ and ~ I may have started ~ Greek Fire ```

Mixed in a coffee can ~ away from other burnables ~ it will think ~ for a while then ~ woosh ```

Why do you write with all the random punctuation marks?

It's poetry!  Think of it as an opportunity to practice interpretive reading.   ;)
Is any of the above Orthodox?  I have no clue, so there's that.

I believe Greek fire was a highly guarded secret. So secret that apparently no one knows how to make it any more. ;D

The unwaning light of the Phanar.

I *love* the inclusion of “iru”.

What's an iru?

It's a vowel that rarely gets seen written on its own (ഋ), but is most often a vowel sign attached to a consonant (e.g., പൃ).

Oh, it's seemingly the syllabic consonant. I didn't know modern Indian languages had this thing. It appears in some Slavic languages (such as the infamous Czech tongue-twister "Strč prst skrz krk" or in "Srbija", which is Serbian for Serbia) and even marginally in English and German (some speakers may snip the second vowel in "eaten").
