It has been reported on the Indiana List that His Eminence Met. Philip (Saliba) has suffered a heart attack and is in the hospital.

Lord Have Mercy!

May God bring him to a speedy recovery through the prayers and blessings of the Theotokos.

Amen!

Here's an update... basically it was less serious than a heart attack and he is expected to recover.

Lord have mecy!

I have heard that His Eminence has suffered a bleeding ulcer. This is not as serious as a heart attack, but is certainly something needing hospitalization and our prayers for a thorough recovery.

Yesterday I was told that His Eminence was indeed hospitalized in Washington for a bleeding ulcer--but that while in the hospital, he suffered a heart attack.

The Antiochian website updated today, saying that Metropolitan PHILIP is hospitalized for a "significant medical condition" and his cardiologist has checked up on him.

Prayers and messages for him can be shared here:  http://www.antiochian.org/prayers1

I recall a bishop, also an Arab, from about 15 years ago who suffered a heart attack.   He recovered and was able to continue in his work.   But slowly changes began to set in and he became grumpy, irritable, demanding, intolerant.  His clergy and his people watched these changes with great sadness, remembering the wonderful bishop he used to be. They went on loving him but they were careful not to do anything to offend him.  When he died he died alone in his flat, still in office as an active bishop, but all his friends had left him and nobody phoned him and it was several days before his body was discovered.   Enormously sad and many of us still keep him in our prayers.

Lord, extend your healing hands to your servant, Metr. Philip.

Maybe all that is happening is affecting his health.  He needs to rest.

O holy Father, heavenly Physician of our souls and bodies, who hast sent thine Only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ to heal all our ailments and deliver us from death: do thou visit and heal thy servant +Philip, granting him release from pain and restoration to health and vigor, that he may give thanks unto thee and bless thy holy Name, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

I know that he was hospitalized in 2005, but is he still having health problems? Or has this thread turned into a general intercessory request on his behalf?

He recovered and I have taken the resumption of this thread to be a general intercessory prayer.
