Antiochian Archdiocese Launches "The Orthodox West" website
« on: April 08, 2018, 10:29:53 PM »
"The Western Rite Vicariate has gathered many materials to help Orthodox and non-Orthodox alike learn more about the Western Rite in the Orthodox Church. Our Archdiocese has a rich heritage of reaching out to people of all backgrounds and in various ways responding to Christ's command to bring the Gospel to all nations. These materials, which include a documentary film about the Western Rite, blogs, and other resources, are available at The Orthodox West."

"I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation."

May God one day unite me with the Holy Orthodox Catholic Church.

The documentary film was produced by Adam Roberts as part of his Antiochian House of Studies work for the St. Stephens course.

It is so well done that His Eminenece Metropolitan JOSEPH has directed that it be shown in every parish of his Archdiocese.

That's a good documentary. I'm glad to see that it (and the Western Rite) is being promoted so heavily.

Exciting stuff. I wish New Rome would get with the program  ;)

And I remember when people were worried he would work against the WR.
Blessed Nazarius practiced the ascetic life. His clothes were tattered. He wore his shoes without removing them for six years.

THE OPINIONS HERE MAY NOT REFLECT THE ACTUAL OR PERCEIVED ORTHODOX CHURCH

All hail and agree with AGABUS! the God of this website.

Take a breath, read Ecclesiastes 1:9.

Why?  The Antiochians and ROCOR have it.  Why should New Rome offer something that has never been part of their own liturgical tradition?

Just as Rome always had Byzantine parishes and monasteries in her territory, Constantinople always had Latin parishes and monasteries in her territory until Michael Cerularios shut them down. Beyond that Amalfion Monastery on Athos lasted till the 13th century.  So it is in her history.

But theologically speaking, hasn't the location of New Rome been moved from Byzantium to Russia?  ;)

Don’t worship cities.  Worship Christ.
Mor Ephrem is a nice guy.  Just say sorry and it will all be ok. Say I had things that were inside troubling me but I didn't know how to express appropriately. I will not behave that way again but I am seeking help.

...if you feel Mor really is in spiritual danger, pray the Jesus prayer for him.   :police:

A part of me wants to start a thread to bizarre theological websites, because this website reminded of another Catholic sede website. However, a part of me feels sinful for laughing at people who have been deluded.

I guess I tend to try and think of it as laughing at the ideas, not the man.

That's Third Rome.  ;)

But what I mean is that there seems to be veiled hostility against the Western Rite, and one now-reposed GOAA archbishop was openly hostile, as in "Sure, they're Orthodox in belief, but their existence confuses our witness and unity. No one should visit their parishes, and their priests better wear Eastern vestments if they want to concelebrate with us."

I decree Rio de Janeiro is Fourth Rome.
"May the Lord our God remember in His kingdom all Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, which heralds the Word of Truth and fearlessly offers and distributes the Holy Oblation despite human deficiencies and persecutions moved by the powers of this world, in all time and unto the ages of ages."

Anyhow when God was asked he said Eastern Orthodox is true Church and not Catholic Church. So come home and enjoy.

We need to convert it to Orthodoxy first... then perhaps we can establish a Brazilian Orthodox Emperor.

There's a considerable number of Orthodox parishes and the imperial heir apparent is a trad-cath, so I guess we could be further from the masterplan.

Dom Bertrand still lives in Rio? I thought he was living in São Paulo. He was in a TFP/IPCO rally early this year in Avenida Paulista.

I'm almost sure he still lives in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, along with the rest of his family. Technically, the city is still theirs, people are just living in it. Inhabitants still pay them a collection of taxes called laudemium.

Yeah, probably he lives in Petrópolis. There is a monarchist organization in São Paulo that is directly linked to the royals, that's why I thought maybe some members of the family lived there.

Everything weird happens in São Paulo.
