"Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”" With 25milion in your account you sure need lots of prayers.

You are a kind of 21st century Ivan Karamazov, at least on this forum.  :P

"When the disciples heard this they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matt. 19:25, 26)

Perhaps a little tactless, but he's not necessarily wrong...

I don't think anybody should die that rich.

I don't think he wanted to, unless you're referring to some specific quote. If that's what it took to stop Communism, and in his view prevent greater suffering, then he evidently thought it was worth it (which makes his praise of Kim Il-Sung all the more puzzling to me).

Something about religious inclusivism, I imagine.

Oh the just the typical P&P stuff....that he was too friendly to Catholicism, and that he believed that those that were not Christian due to never hearing of Christ could be saved. Just for fun, I would love to send them that picture of Billy Graham with Metropolitan Hilarion, given their deep admiration of Orthodoxy.

For questions about the history of the Lutheran faith see the Book of Concord available from Pastor's office.

Formula of Concord 1577

A restatement of some teachings in the Augsburg Confession over which Lutherans had become divided. The Solid Declaration is the unabridged version. The Epitome is an abridged version intended for congregations to study. Over 8,100 pastors and theologians signed it, as well as over 50 government leaders.

Whew, i never knew he was that rich.
Surely he must have set up charities, foundations, etc?

The only question i have is would you say the same thing if he had 5 million, 1 million, 500k?

There was that and then there was his "stranglehold" comment to Richard Nixon. Important to remember both sides.

True. An imperfect man to be sure. I disagreed with much of what he did (or didn't do.) And of course, as an Orthodox Christian, I had disagreements with much of his theology. But he was an awesome preacher.

Well he spawned a lot of the "Jews are Gods chosen and we have to serve them to be saved" quasi Calvinist types that i end up deabating at work. Certainly a very zealous man and admirable in some sense but we are going to have to deal with the aftermath of his teachings which are dangerous and in some sense apocolyptic. No doubt we should refrain from being too harsh but I think its foolish to act like his work wasnt destructive.

He can pose with hierarchs and say nice things about us all he wants but in the end hes deceived people and poisoned their mind with zionist crap and really wacky soteriology. Im talkin bout the contemptible money loving evangelical types he birthed. As if our sole purpose is to protect the false nation state of Israel in order to facilitate the coming on the antichrist.

Christian Zionism is a lot older than Billy Graham.

Most of its origins go back to Dispensationalism (Darby, Scofield, et al) in the 19th Century, though you can argue it's even older than that.

"Money loving Evangelicals" likewise predate him.

You are correct. My point was to say not that he had created these ideas but that he has been instrumental in their recent manifestations. His charisma and devotion turned a lot of people toward Christianity, albeit a bastardized form of it. Is it equal to atheism or satanism? Certainly not. But its also not right.

Alright.
Christ my God, set my heart on fire with love in You, that in its flame I may love You with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my soul and with all my strength, and my neighbor as myself, so that by keeping Your commandments I may glorify You the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Amen.

It seems that in the end Billy Graham believed in the unconquerable love of God. He went through various phases, as any theologian or philosopher does. But it seems that he ultimately came down on the side of peace, tolerance, ecumenical harmony, and respect for all human life. And because of that, I have great respect for him. Yes, we shouldn't overlook or dismiss his errors. We should point them out and rebuke them. But let's be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. It seems to be a tendency these days to place people into the category of either saints or surrogates of Satan. I don't think Billy Graham was either. But I do think he is now in heaven, in the company of the saints, in spite of his errors. God alone knows.

When I was young I used to really like Billy Graham, but when I got older I realized that he was just a Masonic Deceiver / Actor just like 95% of all famous pastors you see on tv in America.
