Non-liturgical Orthodox songs
« on: February 15, 2018, 04:43:53 PM »
Does anyone know of spiritual songs/devotionals that are Orthodox, but are not necessarily Chant/Liturgical?  :)

There is an album by the Saint Elisabeth Convent (Minsk, Belarus) called "Songs of the Russian Pilgrims" which collects a lot of Russian devotional songs. The album Putnik by Ensemble Sirine also has some.

A nun-disciple of Gerondissa Gabriella makes nice non-liturgical songs that I enjoy, but they are all in Greek.

Stamatis Spanoudakis has composed a lot of non-liturgical Orthodox music, with and without vocals, as well as re-set liturgical hymns. These works get a lot of airplay on Greek church radio:

What a great thread.

Yes we who are far from sainthood we can recognize a living saint and I'm talking from personal experience.Yes they are gentle soo gentle it can not be described it is like gentleness and humility in one and also they have this light this energy it's beyond words...and when you are near them you feel ecstatic and very happy
