Music for listening to fairy stories. Patty Gurdy getting her hurdy on.

I love the Hurdy Gurdy :D

I can understand getting that mad about Milo, even if I don't think it's a good idea. The question of feminism has little to do with it, the man is a cancer.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Accidentally Genius

I rewatched the first two PotC movies the last couple nights, so I decided to give the above vid a rewatch as well.

The first one of these is from Romania.

Linkara's review of Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating the Green Lantern from DC's 2001 publicity stunt series.

I really like the idea of etheral green not-fog as the source of GL's powers. It was cool that the comic had a very Jack Kirby-esque giant monster in it. I also really like the idea of aging one year for every day, and I wish it actually factored into the story more.

That having been said, if this had been a series I'm guessing it would have pretty quickly gone into the kind of cultural appropriation that JK Rowling recently got into trouble over. It's also kind of weird that the "black people" all seem like just white guys with slight tans, but that one isn't really Stan's fault.

Also, the Stan-ified Linkara drawing is adorbz and I wish I had a plushy of it.

The other reviews he's done on this series, for those who are interested.

Batman

Even though this scene is based off of a real saint, I feel it has some sort of moral to it.

I'm confused. Did they just film both to let the viewer believe whichever one they want to? Or are we meant to take the failure as what "really happened" since it comes second and lasts longer?

The Rabbi with the guitar is awesome, He's what I thought the Hasidic movement would be like when I was still Jewish. I wish I could meet him.

S'alright.

So, would you say typical Hasidism is more like most of the Haredim?

I'm of two minds. I like a lot of things about the Haredim, and they're right to protest some of the actions of the Israeli government. But there's clearly a lot of rottenness and abuse lurking in the movement (not to mention the anti-Christian actions). That woman who's lost all belief in God is the one I feel the most bad for.

From what I've experienced, the harassment comes out more in the big communities of Haredim like in Jerusalem and New York City. My local Chasidic synagogue is filled with friendly and pious people.

So to answer your question, yes.

A discussion at the table sent me seeking out this little bit (Horrible Histories giving Georgian food the M&S food porn advert treatment), and then stayed on the channel watching song after song. ;D I love Horrible Histories.

Let's Play Detroit: Become Human With CohhCarnage - Episode 15

I'm surprised this hasn't done better with critics (currently a 79 on metacritic), it totally seems like a game that would be a 'gaming journalist' darling despite its flaws. I guess it gets points knocked off for being AAA so the expectations are not absurdly forgiving higher?

May happen. Matt Easton, a HEMA instructor, savaged the trailer for the upcoming Robin Hood movie and Lionsgate claimed the ad revenue for his video.

NP: Let's Play Detroit: Become Human Part 2 - A New Home [PS4 Gameplay]

It's like 'The Room': it's really bad, yet I want to watch it again. Materwelonz is a thoughtful youtuber, am interested in hearing her commentary on it.

*SPOILERS*

Also curious if she'll pick up on the Jew/holocaust angle, which I've not heard anyone else comment on. A lot of people have mentioned the American civil rights (especially black slavery) stuff--it's impossible to miss--but towards the end the story starts getting into overt anti-semitism material as well (gathering androids in camps; exterminating them; at one point the president of the U.S. says that before anything else happens they need to deal with "the android question").

WHAT IF ROBOTS WERE PEOPLE EVERYBODY!? Such an original, woke premise.

Anyway, Quinton Reviews on Ready Player One, the book. The more I recall about this book, the more I realize how trashy it is- not that I thought it was high art at the time I read it.

Also, Ernest Cline as a person kind of grosses me out, to be honest.

Fwiw the game isn't as boring as Jim makes out in his video (not sure if he plans on ever playing it again, probably not from what I remember him saying), as long as you're ok with walking simulators + + pick-your-adventure + QTE gameplay in general. The 'chores' part is really just to set the context of androids as servants. The main problem imo is that it's constantly contradicting itself and being heavy-handed, and bringing topics up without actually exploring them.

The Ross Sisters - Solid Potato Salad (DVD Quality) Full Video

I woke up at 2am. Decided to stay up half an hour and then try to get back to sleep. This was suggested on my youtube home page. Wtf did I just watch? What have I ever watched that would make yt think I'd want to see this? What even is this?

I have, not surprisingly, watched this a half dozen times since then (no, not because of that, get your mind out of the gutter... actually I find the hammy farmer at the beginning to be the most amusing part, especially his eyes).

Of course, I suppose one could argue that if you spend too much time frontloading the game with that sort of thing, it can bore the player and not make them want to stick around until it gets more exciting.

I will say one thing for Manos, the instrumental score is actually pretty good (the jazz vocals are meh). It belonged in a better movie.

If I had a dollar for every Horizon Zero Dawn playthrough on youtube that stops halfway through... well I'd have at least a fistful of dollars. Get off my lawn.

I think we've reached peak "emo covers of old pop songs," guys.

Mango Biscuits is the name of the artist, btw.

245 Trioxin Virus (The Return of the Living Dead Explored) [warning: brief nudity in background]

I'm not sure who the target audience is for videos like this? It doesn't really add any substantive commentary, so it doesn't provide much to fans of the film beyond a refresher. So maybe just some nostalgia for those fans, or an overview for people who have no intention of spending 90 minutes watching the movie but will watch an 8 minute overview? I mean, I gave it a 'thumbs up,' I'm just a bit confused.

Eh, I guess it can count as a review, and the Agent Orange connection is something interesting that I was only peripherally aware of. But I do find myself wishing it was a tad more substantial (maybe going more into the production process or the social implications of the zombies or something), especially given how polished the production is.

I find myself comparing it to Red from Overly Sarcastic's "Legends Summarized" series. It's at base the exact same thing, just with more widespread material. I could just be biased, but I find Red's approach a lot more meaty (and have a hard time articulating exactly why).
