Moving Toward Orthodoxy

« on: September 22, 2005, 01:25:09 PM »

I thought I would post this on the free-for-all board,It seems more appropriate,I might just be way off on this one,I would love some input, maybe even corrections on this.

There seems to be a huge hang-up for most Protestants regarding Icons. I don't have a hang-up with them, The way I see it,they are visual reminders of our Christian Hertiage,I was conversing with a parishoner at the Orthodox Church we were visiting, and we were discussuing the use of icons, and He mentioned television and the images we see everyday,we both talked about the  addiction of TV. How much more of an importance it is for us to have the images of these icons imprinted in our minds, than the images we see not only on TV,but in our every day lives.

We have Liturgy and fellowship as a way of getting away from the world, and Icons are simply tools to help us do this.
