Any divine liturgies in Spanish in Houston area?
« on: March 11, 2017, 12:40:40 AM »
Will be in Houston in a week and I'm looking for a Divine Liturgy in Spanish.  Anybody know of any?
And they were first called Christians in Antioch

Good question.

I like Spanish language and learned it in school. Please do not be offended My question is: What is your reason for asking this question? (Do you have difficulty with English?)

Thank you.

You can call the Diocese of the South (OCA) to help get an answer to your question:

I have zero problems with English.  My wife is Mexican and converted this year.  She has never heard the liturgy in her native tongue and she does have difficulty with English.  I thought it would be great if she could experience the liturgy in Spanish.

OK. Yes you can find Spanish liturgies including in Texas as well as Spanish materials and audiovisual resources.

1. Spanish services will be in the Orthodox Churches in Mexico

2. FR. PAUL OLSON at St Nicholas in Los Angeles does a Spanish Ministry, http://stnicholasla.com/our-priests/

3. Dallas Texas Cathedral of the OCA does Spanish liturgies, but you really should call ahead to find out when (https://oca.org/parishes/oca-so-dalssk). They may also know of more Spanish language parishes.

4. St George in Pharr Texas (5 hours south of Houston) probably has Spanish liturgy. They have Spanish liturgy texts and a lot of their people speak Spanish. http://www.stgeorgepantry.org/spanishtranslations.html

5. Diocese of the South Spanish Podcast and materials http://www.dosoca.org/spanish.html

Enjoy

Enjoy

None of this has anything to do with Houston.

moronikos, it might be a stretch, but the St John Chrysosotom Byzantine Catholic parish might have the liturgy in Spanish.  I don't know of any of the EO parishes that have Spanish services/ministry in Houston.

I don't know about services done in Spanish in Houston, but I found this website: http://www.fatheralexander.org/booklets/spanish/liturgy_s_e.htm that has the liturgy in English and Spanish text side by side.
Lord have mercy!
