Mods. move this to politics if need be.

I feel it necessary to pass this article on with all the attacks of Christians in Europe and the ME that get international attention while this kind of persecution goes on right under our noses just south of the border. Mexico, while in theory still nominally  a "catholic" country, historically has had some of the worst persecution of Catholics and churchmen the world has ever see.

It might be time soon to bring back the Cristeros.

Viva Cristo Rey!

Catholic Priests, are among the bravest drug war heroes of Mexico, and they are being killed at an escalating and appalling rate. Few are reporting the full story, or are reporting the numbers inaccurately, including the Catholic Church.

The fact that Mexico is one of the most dangerous places on earth for reporters is well known, what is far less written about is the violence perpetrated against  Catholic Priests.

Mexico is officially now the most dangerous place on earth for Catholic Priests.  While long in the top group of most dangerous places for priests, Mexico is now its leader.  For the sixth consecutive year, Mexico tops the list in murders and disappearances of Catholic priests in Latin America.

What must be established, murders and kidnappings of priests receive little attention outside regional reporting hubs.  It is a perplexing, how a story of dozens of  priests being murdered by cartels during  2 administrations goes unrecognized, or for example, a story  about 5 priests being killed in November–December of 2013 in Tamaulipas and Veracruz,  is but a tiny blip on the media radar.

Suprised and sadened to hear that. I've been naively assuming that churches would be kind of no-go-zones for this kind of madness. Are the murdered priests considered as martyrs?
I just need to find out how to say it in Slavonic!

They should be. But unlike the Cristeros, who were martyred for their faith against an anti-Catholic, tyrannical freemasonic govt, the clerics today are being butchered against an even more tyrannical entitiy in the drug cartels.

These drug cartels are known for their savagery and brutality every bit as outrageous as ISIS and radical Islam, complete with beheadings and all kinds of murderous torture that the Islamists exact on their victims as well.

May God grant our priests and religious in Mexico the grace and courage to endure this kind of relentless persecution.

May Our Lad of Guadelupe help protect and defend them from this evil;

The drug cartels are also not Roman Catholic but worship the devil in the form of the Aztec goddess Santa Muerte.

This on the one hand makes them more mercatile than ISIL; on the other hand ISIL at least believes its fighting Shaitan, even if it is in fact embodying the daemonic.

Kudos ro you Charles for bringing to our attention this martyrdom.  Any priest who is killed for defending the Christian faith againat ISIL or Narcos should be uncontroversially a martyr.

I would imagine conditions in Mexico will get dangerous for Orthodox, Lutheran and Anglican clergy who by virtue of attire are most likely to be confused with Roman Catholics and who also indeed might well come out at the funerals of these martyrs for ecumenical reasons.

The Antiochian Orthodox Church I believed saved many young people from perishing or being forced to seek shelter with the narcos, during the rainy season in the Tijuana region, through the house building project conducted by the order of St. Ignatius.
Axios and many years to you, Fr. Trenham!

So sad, I had no idea this was such a widespread phenomenon.
"May the Lord our God remember in His kingdom all Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, which heralds the Word of Truth and fearlessly offers and distributes the Holy Oblation despite human deficiencies and persecutions moved by the powers of this world, in all time and unto the ages of ages."
