Lovely!
Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

I think I have an idea for my 20K post...when it comes...if it comes
We're looking forward!

You're getting close, Mina.
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

Once Christ has filled the Cross, it can never be empty again.

A little too soon if you ask me...

I wish some posts which you do not see (because I’m a mod) didn’t count  :P

This evening, directly after the Presanctified Liturgy, at my parish there has been organised "Evening of the Psalms" starting the parish solemenities of the parish feast - our patron is st. John Climacus. This year I've been one of the participants, I've chanted O Lord of Hosts be with us in Arabic. The psalms have been chanted and read (by choir members and amatours - all the volunteers among the parishioners) also in Polish, Church Slavonic, English, Greek, Hebrew, Latin and Serbian.
There was a live broadcast, so it can be watched there:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBgziAatr00

I'm entering in 1:03:30 and staring chanting in 1:04:19

It's been 2nd time in my life of public singing, I'm not a choir member, so it's been totally amateur ;)
Pray for persecuted Christians, especially in Serbian Kosovo and Raška, Egypt and Syria

My Orthodox liturgical blog "For what eat, while you can fast" in Polish (videos featuring chants in different languages)

You got it really good as amateur, totally aware of your own range! You were never part of a choir member?
"May the Lord our God remember in His kingdom all Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, which heralds the Word of Truth and fearlessly offers and distributes the Holy Oblation despite human deficiencies and persecutions moved by the powers of this world, in all time and unto the ages of ages."

Anyhow when God was asked he said Eastern Orthodox is true Church and not Catholic Church. So come home and enjoy.

Thank you! :) No, I've just sung a few times in a choir of the parish that uses Polish as the liturgical language, at the services that there have been just a few members of their choir in attendance.
But I do chant from time to time the Epistle, Old Testament, canons, prokimenons etc. - that's not plain reading, but despite the fact that each of them have different melodies, that's not typical singing. But probaly due to this chants I have some experience need to such "performances" ;)
That's pretty funny, as in the primary and secondary (gymnasium) school I had one teacher of music, she was quite a crazy person, she didn't like me at all, and e.g she accepted every girl to the school choir except me ;) ; there was a kind of obligation for every girl to be in the school choir in the 1st year of the secondary school. Sometiems, when we wresinging a certain song to get a mark, she was even parodying me. Firslty she was claiming that I cant't hear the proper tone/music, then she was claimign thatt I ehar perfectly the tones but I have a bad voice and so on... Plus we have some quarrels, e.g I was protesting to sing joyous stuff during Great Lent ;) And when the subject of music was over for my class, she retired ;) and a new, young teacher came to the school, the choir was opened also for boys, and the membership (or rather: qualifications, that everybody had passed except me) wasn't obligatory. That's an irony.
So, the choir director of our parish "discovered" me when I started attending hsi Church Slavonic, about 5 years ago ;) And he taught us the way of Church Slavonci reading, generally - liturgical reading/chat, so for a few years I've been being asked from time to time I chant the things I mentioned above ;)

Maybe I'll bring my little recorder and tape myself singing in choir tomorrow.

Then again...

Oh noes!  Busted.

I hope they use organs because chanters are untalented, and not because they despise Church's Holy Tradition.

Sessional hymn before the 6th Gospel for the service of the 12 Passion Gospels, my 7 year olds singing melody, me singing bass softly. It would probably be better, if I just had them do it on their own.

That's probably very cute, but the link won't work.

Me reading a translation to English I made from the poem Quinto Império, by Fernando Pessoa

Is that what a Brazilian accent sounds like? I could not have guessed without knowing your background beforehand.

That's the accent of a Brazilian who learned British English his whole life, prefers to sound American, but doesn't make an effort toward either accent. :P

This is me trying to go full "Rio de Janeiro English"

Now there's something quite different. I wasn't even sure it was English at first. ;D
