« on: April 08, 2016, 03:00:44 PM »
A bunch of kids found one of my so so bad poems online and used it as a class project, a bunch of tweets came at me from tweenies asking my name so they could reference me in their work, too funny!

I think the Internet 2.0 version of Andy Warhol's famous dictum is "15.5 nanoseconds of fame" lol.

Maybe you're not such a bad writer.   I myself feel like an awful self-critic when it comes to my own compositions or translations. Sometimes an overrater, sometimes an underrater, it works both ways.
"May the Lord our God remember in His kingdom all Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, which heralds the Word of Truth and fearlessly offers and distributes the Holy Oblation despite human deficiencies and persecutions moved by the powers of this world, in all time and unto the ages of ages."

sample...

How fast does a fly fly in the high sky?
How long will a bee be working on the honey honey?
How much scratching can a bear bare?
Does anyone even care?

only time i attempted a serious one was about my childhood...

House, House, House, Home

hungry, wet, silence, cold, empty, dark, alone, ignored
hit, pain, broken, crying, drugs, mum, boyfriend, lying
raw, meat, rank, sick, doctor, xray, plaster, trip

eight, scary, anxious, fights, noisy, chaos, paedos, nights
knife, hidden, pillow, sleep, stabbed, hand, man, creep
truent, loner, safe, clever, aggression, trust, NO, never

flat, empty, new, MINE, cooking, shopping, working, fine
pubs, clubs, fun, youth, religion, study, Islam, truth
ummah, Rina, shahada, friend, wali, marriage, single, end

man, weird, wife, weirder, funny, new, mum, nearer
aunties, uncles, mum, clean, du'a, mending, healing, dream
trust, man, love, release, home, children, life, peace

and when i got divorced a year later...

I took a breath and could not breathe
My hopes and dreams began to freeze
my heart stopped beating as autumn leaves
fell silent at my feet

It's over...and the D word that I dread
is 7 glowing neon letters in my head
announcing marriage is now dead
can't think, can't sleep, can't eat

My trusted guide round every bend
My hope of learning deen from a friend
My life, My future all at an end
I wish we didn't ever meet

This day of days when time stood still
and breathing stopped and eyes would fill
with tears, as marriage never again will
be something I repeat

As somebody who loves poetry, I actually think those show a lot of promise, Poppy. They really struck me at the heart.

I think Ogden Nash would be pleased:

Quote
Behold the duck.
It does not cluck.
A cluck it lacks.
It quacks.
It is 'specially fond
of a puddle or pond.
When it dines or sups
it bottoms ups.

Poppy,

Thank you for sharing these. These are very emotional and powerful.  I would certainly enjoy reading more if you like to share more :)
Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.
