Romans 8:21-23 the whole creation

Romans 8:21-23 (NKJV)

21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

I read a long time from that site that teaches universal salvation that this means everyone and I suppose everything will be saved. But that can't be because the psalms say the beasts perish.
But a commentary I read says this means that creation will be free from slavery to corrupt men it seems like a good explanation except I thought the new creation is something new and completely unrelated to the creation that was so how can it be redeemed if the old creation will be destroyed and in no way is resurrected ?

I thought the new creation is something new and completely unrelated to the creation that was

Why would you think this?

Everything I've read regarding this passage relates it to the corruption/ death which pervades creation as a result of the fall of man.

Just keep in mind that apocatastasis is a heresy.

Except it's not.
