Father in hospital
« on: December 10, 2015, 02:31:16 PM »
My father is back in the hospital. Second time in weeks. He thinks he may have had a stroke.

Lord have mercy. St. Luke and St. Pantaleimon, pray for us.

Lord, have mercy.
Quote from: Fr. Thomas Hopko, dystopian parable of the prodigal son
...you can imagine so-called healing services of the pigpen. The books that could be written, you know: Life in the Pigpen. How to Cope in the Pigpen. Being Happy in the Pigpen. Surviving in the Pigpen. And then there could be counselling, for people who feel unhappy in the pigpen, to try to get them to come to terms with the pigpen, and to accept the pigpen.

May the Lord grant him a complete and speedy diagnosis and recovery!

Lord, have mercy!

Lord, have mercy!
If you cannot remember everything, instead of everything, I beg you, remember this without fail, that not to share our own wealth with the poor is theft from the poor and deprivation of their means of life; we do not possess our own wealth but theirs.  If we have this attitude, we will certainly offer our money; and by nourishing Christ in poverty here and laying up great profit hereafter, we will be able to attain the good things which are to come. - St. John Chrysostom

Lord have mercy.
The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai

Thanks be to God.  Is he doing okay?  No stroke?

It was a little strange. They say he didn't have a full-blown stroke, thank God. They didn't come up with a clear idea of what happened. His temperature and heart rate appear to be back to normal.

They said his tests didn't indicate anything else, so they sent him home.

We're a little bit puzzled, but we'll take it. :)

God works miracles.

May your father continue to be in good health....and may this little blip just be that...and nothing more.

He had a temperature?

Lord have mercy. Let's just hope it was a 24 or 48 hour flu.

May he recover fully and not have another episode.

Lord have mercy.

May God continue to be with your father.  Mini-strokes are a thing and no laughing matter.  Sometimes they aren't even noticeable until well after the fact.  Keep playing it safe.  Again, God be with him and you and the rest of your family.
