I was considerate to my parents.... I decided to be born at 3 PM rather than the middle of the night! Although the consideration has worn off since then (so their gray hair attests to at least).
Of course prayers and at the birth of a new child - áûðòð тõñõ Ñþöõ!

Hey everyone, thanks for the prayers, kind words and well wishes. Today, at 11:46am, my wife gave birth to our first baby, a boy, Dejan (a good Serbian name)  . Dejan and Mom are both doing great. I could feel your prayers and the Lord's mercy upon us today. It has been the most glorious day of my life. Thanks again to all of you. I hope each and everyone of you shares in this kind of joy and hapiness. God Bless you all!

Congratulations on little Dejan! And the best to you and Mrs. S. Now I know that you're a first time father, so you may not know the Tradition involved, but now we need the stats on the baby. How long? What did he weight at birth? Lots of hair or little or bald? Details, man! We need details! Ebor

Ebor True. And it would help if you can manage the stats in metric values rather than that strange Imperial (I doubt you call it that in the states, mind) system you inherited from the Brits. I'm afraid I don't understand measurements systems which have divisions in 12s, 14s or any other seemingly random value. James

Okay, ladies and gents... Dejan (for the non Slavs... pronounced Day-Yun ... the "yun" part rhymes with "fun"... "Day-Yun")... was born pretty small. 6lbs 7oz. He was 20 inches long.
Yes, he's like a snake. LOL
I'll post a pic soon.
James... I think they said roughly around 2619 grams (does that make sense???). 20 inches is probably about 53 cm. I'm just guessing though.
He's great! Words can't even begin to describe!

Through the wonders of Google, which I discovered can do the conversions for me, I've discovered that your son weighs 2.92kg and is 50.8 cm long. Hope this helps anyone else who is 'Imperially challenged' to understand the figures. Congratulations again. James

What a marvelous event! My prayers go to your family, especially on that first car ride home. That's when it *really* hit me that I was Dad now--trying to be especially careful when driving because of my first newborn and recovering wife.

Don't panic, btw. He *will* eventually sleep through the night. Some children do it sooner, others later. Well, now, let's difne "night" here. If by "night" you nean the time period in which you used to get blissful sleep, kiss it goodbye. Sure it's not every two hours, but then they get up at other times during the night. Let's not forget the inevitable "daddy, I'm sick" nights in which kid vomit makes its way onto - well - all over you. No, I wouldn't expect a regualr great night's sleep for about another 20 years. You can get an odd good night on the occasions when your family takes him for you. Of course, then you wake up at 4:30 saying, "I miss little Dejan waking me up now." So I guess you really are completely hosed for the next 20 years. So far I must say that it's been worth it. Congrats again and enjoy!

Hey everyone, wanted to say thanks again to everyone for the kind words and prayers. I'm going to attach one last pic (which many of the Serbs will recognize) and probably some of our other European brothers (who are football - soccer fans). Here is Dejan with two Crvena Zvezda jerseys (Red Star Belgrade).
PS - Christening (tenatively) scheduled for November 27.
