Where Can I Find the Three Chapters Online?
« on: August 12, 2015, 08:11:18 PM »
No need for a polemical debate or discussion of any kind, I'm just wondering where I can access the three chapters online.

Thanks in advance.
"I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die [...] These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." -The Lord Jesus Christ

For the whole controversy in detail, I'd refer to the Acts of Constantinople 553 by Richard Price. A wonderful and authoritative edition of the Acts and all the associated materials.

Father bless,

I am particularly interested in reading the letter of Ibas to Maris, where might I find the text of said letter?

Also, a friend of mine wanted to read the text of the Henotikon. I think I read it some time ago but can't seem to remember where.

The Letter of Ibas can be found in the Acts of Ephesus II by Perry, at www.archive.org

The Henotikon is in Evagrius' History I think. At www.tertullian.org/fathers IIRC

My understanding is that "Three Chapters" is a mistranslation of the Greek. The Greek word for chapter and head are the same Kephaloi. So, what was really meant was "the Three Heads" namely, Ibas of Edessa, Theodoret of Cyrrus and Theodore of Mopsuestia.
I reject all that I wrote that isn't in accordance with the teachings of the Orthodox Church. Also, my posts reflect my opinions (present or former) and nothing else.
