What can you learn/What have you learned
« on: July 27, 2015, 06:03:29 PM »
It simple in my last thread Denise made a excellent point it wasn't going to end too well even if it wasn't my intention. So please let that one thread die a slow death. I want a more postive thread what can we all learn from each other young & old, conservative & liberal, cradle & convert. I think I can learn the customs, traditions, expirencing the food, and actually being Orthodox from someone who lived it through generations instead of online. I hope this is more positive for all of us. what can you learn or have you learned?

That's a good question.

I've learned I have a long way to go in showing mercy toward others.

I am hoping to improve my church attendance and prayer habits.
My only weakness is, well, never mind

And you'll sleep, but they'll find you

Come back my dream into my arms, into my arms

London is drowning, and I live by the river

beautiful biro I also learned I can improve my Church attendence I also learned to improve my prayer life and to not be so judgemental toawards my brothers and sisters in christ. We are all struggling is a point the priest at the Goarch church i been visiting made, to make the story short a visitor showed up the sunday before last wearing a short skirt and a lot of people wern't too happy however he didn't lecture her or put her down but he did mention dressing appropiately when he was talking he taught me both truth in love and not being so judgemental.

Nice question. Since in the church I attend, on any given Sunday there are going to be people from most age groups; cradle and convert; native, immigrant and refugee; mainly EO, a few OO and a scattering of Lutheran spouses, maybe the biggest lesson is how friendly everyone can be given the chance. Along with that comes the lesson that one doesn't necessarily have the monopoly on correct behaviour or belief.

I've learned to be more patient with others and not to say the first thing that comes to mind.
"Vanity of vanities, said Ecclesiastes vanity of vanities, and all is vanity."
