The town of Bartella located in the southern Nineveh Plains; about 13 miles away from Mosul, was liberated by the Iraqi Army yesterday.  Abuna Yakub is ringing the church bell in his church after almost 800 days.

Teshmeshto (prayer services) offered at the Mort Shmuni Church burned down by ISIS, for the first time after being liberated by the Iraqi army.

For those with knowledge about such things, is it quite a challenge for bishops accustomed to different rites to concelebrate? Which rite is most commonly chosen for concelebration, or is it pretty evenly/randomly distributed?

The host church is the main rite to be prayed.  Throughout the liturgy other churches' hymns are chanted (and this is arranged and planned) in areas believed to be the appropriate time within the host liturgy's structure.

I expected for them to just celebrate the rite of the host church unaltered. The actual practice sounds like it might need some MCs! I like it, though.

Yeah.  That doesn't sit well with me either.  If there is any Malayali group who is untrue to the legacy established by St. Thomas, it is ironically the group which bears his name.

Inspite of the Prince of Wales attending this function, the UK Government refused visa's for the following Syriac Orthodox Bishops to attend this consecration:
- Mor Nicodemus Daoud,  Archbishop of Mosul (Iraq)
- Mor Timothius Mousa, Archbishop over Mor Mathai Dayro and the Nineveh valley
- Mor Selwanos Boutros, Archbishop of Homs (Syria)

These Bishops were also told they were denied entry because they did not have enough money to support themselves and they might not leave the UK.

It is worth noting that the UK Home Office recently issued guidance stating that there should be a presumption that senior members of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood should be granted asylum in the UK – despite the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood has repeatedly incited violence against Egyptian Christians.

“It’s unbelievable that these persecuted Christians who come from the cradle of Christianity are being told there is no room at the inn, when the UK is offering a welcome to Islamists who persecute Christians.”

It's unbelieveable that 3 adult people cannot fill documents for visas properly or they cannot find someone to do that for them. Reading the  regulations before is a  good thing to do.

Don't trust the media on pretty much anything related to refugee crisis. The Geneva Convention still excludes people who have committed various atrocities from receiving refugee status. I believe that the British goverment still abides to it.

I don't know though whether we can blame the hierarchs for anything. Perhaps they just don't have any experience on Western bureuecracy.

But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 19:34

Is that an armenian priest inside a korean presbyterian church?

Where did you get the photo from?
Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

It's Catholicos Aram I (of the Great House of Cilicia) at a World Council of Churches meeting in South Korea in 2004.
