Huh. I didn't know Ethiopian Orthodoxy did face coverings. Is that doctrinal or just a matter of culture?

I'm very knew to my religion and I am currently learning about it (although I have been an Ethiopian Orthodox throughout my entire life).

I think it may be both doctrinal and cultural.

From the common prayer organized for the occasion of the 3rd annual commemoration of the abduction of the two Archbishops (EO and OO) of Aleppo, held at St. Mary Church in Balamand, Lebanon.

The prayer was attended by the two Patriarchs of Antioch, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Syriac Orthodox (OO) Patriarch of Antioch, and H.B John X, Greek Orthodox (EO) Patriarch of Antioch. Also present were their counter parts from the Catholic rites..  Syriac Catholic Patriarch and the  Greek Catholic Melkite Patriarch.

Though you may not find anything unusual about the picture of these two priests fully vested and praying together.. this is indeed an unusual picture. This happened at St. John's Church Mepral in India on 23-April-2016. What makes this picture unusual is that these two priests belong to the two factions of the Malankara Church... the autocephalous Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and the autonomous Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church. And this happened with the full knowledge and blessings of both their Bishops.

A tribute to Khale Nasrah Shammas Hindi whose work has adorned many Syriac Churches in the Middle East... She inherited the art of making church curtains from her father. I saw her work exhibited at the Mardin Museum many years ago. Khale Nasrah passed away earlier this week and with her passing away, an art will also depart. It is indeed an end to an era.

Mepral church is jointly held by both the factions. The factions take turns in conducting Divine Liturgy and other services at the church. The church has not had much maintenance for a while and was in bad shape. So members of both factions contributed and jointly did some renovation / maintenance work at the church. This is the re-dedication of the renovated church by the Presbyters from both the factions.

About your question about the priest at the extreme right; I am not sure who that is. Based on the fact that he is missing the cylindrical black hat, I am assuming he belongs to the Syro-Malankara Eastern Catholic "Rite" (knowin Malankara as Reeth).
