Two humor videos:

http://www.yourepeat.com/watch/?v=cb0YmWtWyOU

They use humor all over the place and have an actor for Pope Leo in a shiny robe.

Oh yeah, linking us to videos entitled "Monophysitism" and surrounded by ads full of Japanese cartoons with big breasts and little clothes, oh yes, that's very nice.  I'm really convinced you are our friend.

OK.  I just watched the videos for the first time and I honestly don't get why they were posted here.  They are not pictures.  They don't articulate Oriental Orthodox Christology, or have anything else to do with the Oriental Orthodox, and they are very bizarre.

Rakovsky, please think before you click "post."

It looks like some Indian Orthodox Churches' architecture may have a native Indian (pagan?) or Roman Catholic influence no less than an influence from the Middle East. What do you think?

They look interesting.

I'm glad my bishop was there.  I find it shameful that the US can't call a tragic event by what it is.

Your bishop?  You have your jurisdiction listed as "Puerto Rican Orthodox Sobor" and I don't see H.E. Metropolitan BOBBITO (Garcia) anywhere in that photo.

(But on the real, which one's your bishop?)

Now that's the kind of high level meeting between the Patriarch and the Catholicos of the East, and the other OO primates, that I have been wanting to see.  Only the Ethiopian and the detained Eritrean Abunas are absent.
Axios and many years to you, Fr. Trenham!

Is this the Catholicos of the East, or the Catholicos under the Syriac Patriarch?

Glory to God.  May all the schisms in our Church soon be healed.  I hope the fathers used this opportunity to plan for a new millennium Addis Ababa Conference.  I'm sure Abune Mathias was only detained because he is comforting his flock in the wake of the horrors Daesh visited upon his people in Libya. (New details of the heroism of the Martyrs is still emerging - how more than 80 Ethiopians and Eritreans were kidnapped, women raped and sold off into slavery, some men apostasized under torture, but the Martyrs held firm and encouraged the others, and shed their blood for Christ.  Lord have mercy.)

I'm sorry you could only find a picture of a New Jersey schismatic.

Archbishop Antonio "Toño" (Rodriguez) is a hardworking schemamonk who works hard feeding the poor with lots and lots of plantains.

I'm curious about the rather high profile the Maronite Patriarch seems to have had.  I don't recall seeing any other Eastern Catholic leaders from the region (except perhaps the Armenian Catholic Patriarch), and Cardinal Koch seems to have been less visible.

About 100,000 Armenians and others marched in Los Angeles today, to commemorate the 1915 Genocide:

Everyone knows that the five boroughs is a long-running (since 1898) civic experiment in city government by, you guessed it, Newark.  In fact, it's more accurate to say that there is no New York.

This is the Coptic convent in Ohio. HG Bishop Botros is their spiritual founder.

This is the Coptic convent in Ohio. HG Bishop Botros is their spiritual founder.

I love that place...I've visited there a few times.  The nuns are very kind.

This reminds me of a question. I've seen some Coptic nuns in Jerusalem wearing the kolonsowa and I wonder if this is a rank or a different tradition of Coptic nuns, similar to the Coptic monks o St. Macarius that do not wear the kolonsowa.  Any Coptic posters here know an answer?
Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

Syriac Nuns wear the same monastic hood (eskimo) as that worn by male monastics.

The hood is called an eskimo? Is that a Syriac word, or is the name a reference to Inuit tribes?
I'm not going to be posting as much on OC.Net as before. I might stop in once in a while though. But I've come to realize that real life is more important.

Eskimo (pronounced eh-SKEEM-oh) is just a Syriac form of schema, which among the EO refers to a particular monastic rank and its proper habit.  It's a loan word from Greek.
