does the warning percentage go away? Because I've been warned in the past, and cane find what you're talking about.

doesn't the warning go away after a period of time? it's not in your profile now.

it does, and i looked where it was on Chiere

I thought it was something only we could see and was a reflection of our discipline records.

I can see other people's percentages. Not sure if it's supposed to be that way or not, but it doesn't matter either way, I guess (unless someone were to have a really high percentage).

I guess if you reach 100% you're banned?

What an odd thread this has turned out to be.

Why are you worried about what percentage you have vs what percentage others have?

Well, now I AM worried. Nana saw my 10% and I cannot!
While others have 2%.....I feel self-pity coming on......will dash the little bugger.....
So is there a reduction over time, percentage-wise?
Is WATÇHED a more severe restriction that WARNING?

UH OH does that mean we cannot see our own percentage, only others?  Now that's just not orthodox.

Because someone said that he saw a person with 2% who was banned. I'm not sure how bans work with this new system, so I wasn't sure if you could be banned if you had as little as 2%. I know I've broken the rules quite a bit here, so I didn't know if I too would be banned.

And NanaDeborah and Len, I can see my own warning in my profile.

We don't ban people out of the blue.  If someone is going to be banned, s/he'll have more than a clue about it in advance.  The best way to avoid all that is not to do stuff that is ban-worthy.

But I went to go look for all that stuff about banning, with negative results. Where is it now? Or is the upgrade have a bit-bucket for rules and complaint departments?

OC without rules? That is anarchy.

Verified. I clicked the link to the rules.

Here it is: http://www.orthodoxchristianity.net/forum/index.php?action=rules

Yes, no rules.

Technically, that means all warnings could be appealed as there are no rules to justify a warning.

Oh, dear, what will the mods do now?

well given that people should be thinking on lenten topics....maybe glorifying and pointing out that some might not behave in a christian way here.....shouldn't be on the agenda.

True enough, but what of new members? How would they know if they break the rules if there are no rules for them to refer to?

Why are you worried about what percentage you have vs what percentage others have?

It wouldn't hurt if mods explained new warning system because no one seems to understand it. Unless, of course, mods do not understand it either.

Re: Forum Upgrades

A request for clarification

Since warnings are no longer posted publicly with a green, yellow, orange, or red meatball, would it be possible for mods to EDIT the offending posts and include the admonition?

Or could a mod post a copy of the offending post, along with the admonition.

Several mods have posted that they have administered warnings, but none were visible, leaving us clueless.

With no rules published on this website, how is a person, especially a newbie on this site to know if rules have been changed or violated?

I usually read those moderator admonitions so as to avoid receiving one myself. Without any clue, I wonder  why people have been placed on 1%, 2%, 3%, 20%, 27% and 28% warning status and just what  Watched mean.

Furthermore, if a post has resulted in a warning, then it would be good for us to know so that we will not respond to it and possibly incur a warning ourselves.

Also, wouldn't a public warned post generate less reports than one that does not have a warning?

Since I have used the Report button to nominate a few posts for Post of the Month, I now wonder if those posts might have been reported for a violation.

Maria,

I'll leave the rest of your comments to others but when you report a POM it does come across the same way as violations do, but we can see your note that you intend it as a POM nomination.  There may be a better way to work this but the present system doesn't result in anyone getting a warning, at least.

I noticed, too, that the rules went missing so I will bring this up with the moderators' team.

Gah, no more public executions, no more throwing of tomatoes! The mods don't care about our small amusements anymore. I'm very disappointed in them. It's time for a revolution; involving, of course, very public punishments. Let's bring back the good old days. Bring forth the guillotines.

Gah, no more public executions, no more throwing of tomatoes! The mods don't care about our small amusements anymore. I'm very disappointed in them. It's time for a revolution; involving, of course, very public punishments. Let's bring back the good old days. Bring forth the guillotines.

You'll be front row at the unveiling of the new pillory.

I just noticed that Board News doesn't even have a moderator. This really is the Wild West now. Maybe I'll streak through the forum naked and screaming obscenities to see what will happen given this new spirit of libertinism that seems to be overtaking the forum.  ;D
God bless!

Getting in trouble hasn't stopped you before.  ;)
It's common knowledge that you secretly want to be born in early 17th century Russia.  As a serf or a royal, I know not.  Chances are serf.

Nope, we are dealing with subzero temps here. I don't mind a good streaking now and again, but only do so when I don't have to worry about losing sensitive body parts to frostbite.

Can't we see which post people were warned for anymore?
We have moved to a self-moderating system. Feel free to post warnings to yourself.

TheTrisagion, please do not confuse your fellow forumers, thank you.

-TheTrisagion

Drat, I just got a warning.

Impersonating moderators is still against the rules.  ;)

So the already-secretive interaction between mods and users is now even more secretive. Oy.

And if I get a warning for arguing with moderators I'm gonna go crazycakes all up in here.  :P
Facts unloading, please to wait

Out of curiosity, was this site loading unusually slowly for anyone earlier this morning? Last night around midnight I had times when the server would stop responding when I tried to load a page, and the site kept on being very slow until around noon. I was wondering if anyone else had had this problem and what might have caused it.

It's fine now, but I hope it doesn't happen again.
