Labor
« on: June 05, 2005, 02:18:54 AM »
As I write this, my wife is beginning to go into labor. She started having contractions earlier tonight, but because she is only at 35 weeks and 5 days they gave her a drug to stop the contractions. Well, we came home from the hospital and the contractions started again, so now we have to skip the local hospital and go to the place about an hour away that specializes in high-risk pregnancies. For those who don't know, my wife has various heart problems, and also has gestational diabetes. I've been worried about her coming through the delivery allright. I asked the doctor about this last Wed. and she said that my wife had a "low" chance of dying, low meaning "five to ten percent" (though of course percentages are always just ballpark figures in such cases).  Any prayers that you could say for my wife Mary and unborn daughter Athanasia would be greatly appreciated.

May all the Holy Ones intercede for your family.

BTW. A friend of mine, when he was confirmed, chose the name Athanasius. When the bishop heard his name, he started to chuckle during the service. The good thing is, the feminine form doesn't sound as strange with a girl as the masculine does with a man.

Lord be praised and have mercy.
From me unworthy, to You, please have mercy.
For Your love sake and for Your glory.

Be with us all and with the family.
You know we love You.
Thank You for everything.

Forgive us what we do to You and take us to You.

Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of living God, have mercy on us and save us.

Lord have mercy.

Sorry about the delay. :( My wife didn't have the baby after all, though she was really having contractions (not just Braxton-Hicks) and dialated a bit. Basically, she was starting to go into labor but didn't actually go the whole way through. This continued throughout the last week or so, so I didn't want to post anything because I thought "well maybe today will be the day". But, it never happened (yet!), so we are still waiting. I do appreicate all your prayers though. We need them. :)  I will post again once our daughter sticks her head out. And while I'm signed in, I apologize to those on the rap thread for my comments. Thank you again though.

My prayers to you, your family, and your child!

Please keep us informed, as you have started to do. With our first, I kept taking my wife to the hospital three times (these were contactions, but not quite enough). Our relatives were not sure if we even knew what contractions were, and I was about to get a long duration visit from my in-laws since we clearly didn't know what to do.

Eventually my oldest son was born, though, and he has always been a bit 'pokey' to do anything!

Thank you for yoru prayers and well wishes.ÂÂ  ;DÂÂ  Our daughter Athanasia was born this morning at about 1:30AM at Magee-Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was healthy (so far as we can tell so far anyway), though a bit on the light side (4'10").

EDIT--I'll leave the typos in and whatnot, though I did want to apologize for using feet-inches markers for pounds and ounces, lol. :) Time to go back to the hospital.. . . :)
