Hey everybody!

This isn't a "convert issue" exactly, so the moderator can feel free to move it if necessary! I just had a question about something that I wondered if others, converts or lifelong Orthodox Christians, felt the same about. The more I attend liturgy and become involved in Orthodox spirituality, the more I start getting a feeling of peace whenever I'm in situations I associate with Orthodoxy. For example, if I hear Orthodox chant, it calms me. As another example, even seeing the Orthodox church I attend as I drive by makes  me feel at peace as I recall the services inside the church. So to make a lonq question short, am I crazy? Am I just associating the feelings I get during liturgy with the places, music, or items? Or is it normal for to feel this way when viewing or listening to holy things?

Thanks! :)

You're not crazy, but if that feeling disappears, don't feel like something is necessarily wrong either.  :)
I think you can say ~ In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and post with charitable and prayerful intentions.

The Father who alone loves humankind does really have a way for a soul to be whole, and signs of increased health in us include joy and peace. Don't forget another emotion, which in true form is more than an emotion but the cure itself: love.
"Love ... is an abyss of illumination, a mountain of fire ... . It is the condition of angels, the progress of eternity" (Climacus).

Yes we who are far from sainthood we can recognize a living saint and I'm talking from personal experience.Yes they are gentle soo gentle it can not be described it is like gentleness and humility in one and also they have this light this energy it's beyond words...and when you are near them you feel ecstatic and very happy

Not crazy, no.

I recently put stick (not burned) Frankincense incense and rose oil in my car during a long drive. I refresh it now as necessary. It calms me. A LOT. And then I was gifted a very small 2-3" icon of Christ, so I put it in my car too and I can see it while I drive. Even more calming. A wonderful thing during holiday traffic. ;)

All I need now is a cd with recordings of Byzantine chanting in Greek ... ;)

Yep, me too.

Not so much in Church or during prayers as afterwards when I'm in a quiet place the stillness sometimes becomes deafening.

So, yes, the peace you are talking about is normal in my experience, too.
