The chat function was causing a host of problems "under the hood" so to speak, so it's gone.

When the long-awaited upgrade to the forum software is released, I will see about restoring it.

If you were able to configure a LAMP setup, you should be fine.  InspIRCd has a pretty detailed documentation.
