Chrismation soon!
« on: December 09, 2014, 01:06:13 PM »
Glory to Jesus Christ!

My Dear Brethren

I am so happy, last Sunday I spoke with both my parish Priests and they told me they had been studying my case and have decided I can be admitted to the Holy Orthodox Church.  They mentioned that since I've been attending the Divine Liturgy since at least more than 4 years ago, I go to Vespers when possible and that they have seen me as well at the Holy Week Services, and also based on what we have talked, they believe I am ready to be Chrismated.  Anyway, I will take some Catechism but more focused on the specific questions I have.  Father Damian, our main Parish Priest says he wants me to be Chrismated on the feast of the Theophany!!!!

I am so happy I can hardly believe it.  And to be Chrismated in such a wonderful feast feels like Our Lord is Saying "took you long enough, but welcome home"

Pray for me, your unworthy brother, so I can follow the path Our Lord is putting ahead of me

Thanks y'all!!!!!

Bernardo

Good news!
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

Thank you all for your good wishes and blessings!

Yesterday Father decided to move by Chrismation a couple of weeks because of the lot of work he'll have for the Theophany Service, so it has been moved to Jan. 28.

The name discussion was quite an interesting issue!  Father wanted to me to chose a Greek name (I'm being Chrismated at the Greek Orthodox Church, Patriarchate of Constantinople) and I tried to see if there was any Orthodox Saint that had my legal name, well my second legal name, you know us Hispanics like having several names and my complete name is José Bernardo, although I only use Bernardo.  Finally after a litre of coffee and lots of cookies we agreed that Joseph will remain my Orthodox name.

Please pray for me, as I continue studying and praying for that great day.

Bernardo

May God grant you many years!

I note that January 28 is the Feast Day of many saints, most notably the writer of our pre-eminent prayer of repentance during the Great Lent. Here is a fascinating article on it:
