Reading through George Weigel's latest propaganda piece, this tid bit in particular struck me.
Orthodox social doctrine does not make a clear distinction between civil society and political activity; Orthodox theory knows only the church–state relationship, not the church–society relationship. That is why Metropolitan Hilarion sees our work of evangelization and our service to civil society as “politics.”
Leaving aside Svoboda's work in that "evangelization" and the rampant racism and bigotry concentrated in the West Ukraine, the Major Archbishop seems to want to ignore the work of the Bratstvo Brotherhoods during both Polish occupations of Ukraine...perhaps because that work formed the bulwark preventing his "union" being forced on the Ukraine.

Again, the Vatican didn't start with Vatican II. And denying that shows that it hasn't changed.
