Christ is Risen!! OK folks, I know I haven't been around in a while, but since finishing school I've been home where we have but simple dial-up ::shudder::...I have returned to the good city of Albany, NY to come back online and share with you all some pictures of Donna Mary's (Donna Rose's) chrismation which happened on May 15, Sunday of the Myrrhbearing Women, at the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Protection in NYC. There are also a few pictures, however badly taken, of the commencement ceremony at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Crestwood, NY on May 21. Congratulations to our administrator Anastasios and our frequent poster TonyS for their graduation from this lovely institution I hope this link works... http://community.webshots.com/album/350615431wOrSPeAnastasia

I have to admit - seeing the Non-Chal Bishops just seems awkward to me. What's the deal with them? Are there Non-Cal students at St. Vlad's and their Bishops are just there to support them during commencement? Not trying to be polemnical, just curious.

There was only one non-Chalcedonian bishop present Mar Nicholovos of the Indian Orthodox Church, he handed the diploma to the graduating student of his jurisdiction. There are non-Orthodox student at SVS.

The deal is they look the coolest. Seriously, this year there were six Indian Orthodox students (one graduated), one from the Coptic Orthodox Church, and a handful of Armenians (I don't know how many) who take classes at SVS as well as St. Nersess Seminary. Next year, there will be more.

Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...
