An awesome invention, and all while established scientists are busy playing with... themselves.

Did anyone else think they invented a date rape drug which detects nail polish when reading the title?

You're probably more than a bit paranoid when you wear such nail polish. The nail polish is probably right next to the mace, the gun and the brass knuckles in the purse.

I have a friend who went to a club with his friend, a real macho guy. He got slipped a roofie and completely lost all impulse control. Assaulted someone and then drove off in his car (fortunately, no one was seriously hurt), despite my friend trying to restrain him.

I know it makes more sense to target this product at women, but men are sometimes the unintentional (or intentional) victims of drugging. It would be nice to see a "sister" ("brother") product that also detects the drug, without asking men to wear nail polish or grab the nearest hand that does.

Funny, that is what the cops said when they pulled me over.  I didn't think my vehicle was all that scary.

^ I did and was perplexed.  Interesting article.  Drugs are dangerous, and it is horrifying that anyone would stoop to slipping someone else drugs.

Some men rape drunken women.
Some men cannot control themselves while drunk.
Drinking should be outlawed.

Yes, this is illogical thinking, but it pushed the USA into prohibition.

See, that van brings me more comfort.  I see it at just a noble attempt on your part to advocate for the release of some poor arrested woman named Candy.  I suspect she was arrested for prostitution.  My faith in you is restored.

Great, now I spat out all of the drugs I sipped a few seconds earlier. The drugs is all over my keyboard. Thanks for the laughs, though.

Abstinence from alcohol isn't mandated by Christianity. In fact, the sagacious St. Paul advised us to sip some drugs every now and then.

Showing drunken women belittles the victims of the date rape drug. Roofies can be slipped in to any beverage, including an innocent glass of apple juice, Pepsi or even milk.

Not all women who are victims are drunks.

My mother always taught me to hang on to my glass. If I step away from it, even for a moment, I was not to drink from it again. Mind you, I'm no party girl,  but I still heed her advice whether I'm at a work event, wedding reception or just out at the coffee shop.

Ukrainians have a saying, "береженого, Бог береже" - God keeps safe those who are careful.

Quote
Desomorphine (dihydrodesoxymorphine, former brand name Permonid, street name krokodil) is a derivative of morphine with powerful, fast-acting opioid effects, such as sedation and analgesia.[1][2][3][4] First synthesized in 1932 and patented in 1934,[5] desomorphine was used in Switzerland under the brand name Permonid[6] and was described as having a fast onset and a short duration of action, with relatively little nausea or respiratory depression compared to equivalent doses of morphine. Dose-by-dose it is eight to ten times more potent than morphine.[7]

We usually either assign a "beer guard" or down it before leaving the booze unattended.  Then again, for a male the biggest worry is that if you leave your brew unattended some joker will come by and drink it.  Or dip his wiener in it.  I hate it when I leave my guinness for just a second and come back to see some clown defiling my medicine.

I have seen both.  That is one reason that I do not go out drinking.

Ceci n'est pas une pipe

You like pepsi more than coke?  I though Euro-folk got the good stuff?

We do. That's why we stay clear of the coke.

Unrelated: I keep mistaking you for Alpo lately.  Tongue

Somehow the jolly negro with the pipe reminds me of Alpo as well. I'll change it.

I hate it when I leave my guinness for just a second and come back to see some clown defiling my medicine.

With or without genitals in it, guiness is horrible.

I liked the Afri-cola when I was over there.  But that was in the 1970's, before they changed it.

I hope they come up with anti-date rape gel polish - the gel lasts for weeks and has such a nice shine.
