Christ is Risen!

I'm currently stuck in a very low paid job, but tomorrow morning I have a job interview as a prospective apprentice, which would lead to being able to support a family. My wife and I are desparate to start a family, especially as it's coming up to the anniversary of when we lost our first before being born. I don't work for wealth or prestige, only that I can provide. So please keep my job interview tomorrow in your prayers. Thank you

Lord, have mercy!  If I may ask, what's the apprenticeship for?

Butchery. As running a smallholding is one of the futures my wife and I have considered, it's quite useful, personally.

thank you all for your considerations, but nothing came of it. The pay would be insufficient for what I need and he can't afford to pay me the minimum wage required for my age so that's that. I think it's time to give up on the apprentice route and figure out what I'm meant to do.

Is there any other trade you can/want to learn?  Depending on some unions, the pay is decent while you get your certifications to journeyman status.

I don't know how it works in the US but here apprentices earn about £130/wk, I need around £250/wk. Since I am over 25, an employer must pay me at least minimum wage, but when there are school leavers at home available they won't. Unions don't pay people afaik, people pay a subscription to champagne socialists, sorry unions, in order to get protection, and unions only care for their own. Unions do not have a good rep in UK, for good reason.

Sorry to hear that.  There are plenty of "bad" unions here that are simply political machines, but there are some really good ones, especially in the construction trades.  I was looking at a few unions, but I ended up just going to a welding school for training.  The unions I saw started apprentices at about $15 (8.67 pounds, thereabouts) an hour, with increases over five years until you earn journeyman status.  Most building trades are like that.

I pray something turns up for you and your family.

I intend to get a run of the mill office job which pays better so that I can afford to take A levels again  which I failed at at school, then see afterwards whether uni or whatever.

Wow!  I'm so sorry to hear this.  It only means "this" job wasn't going to lead you in the direction God has planned for you.

Don't lose heart.

It's out there, and only a matter of finding it.

Praying God leads you to the job that is meant to help you and your family.

Lord, have mercy!
