So.......

What are you all going to put on your After Lent Pizza?

Its a tradition, at least for me, to break the fast on Pizza.

Anyone have a similar tradition (no, Mousaka does not count.  Neither does quiche.)?

Pineapple Pizza!!!!  Yes!!!

As a every-day vegetarian, I break the fast with Macaroni and Cheese, Velveeta Shells style. oooo, yummy.

And then lots of my mother's fresh Pascha bread with butter. And for the last couple of years, a nice glass of wine or three Wink

Yeah, the Paschal Pizza is a must!

And also all that chocolate I was given in Roman Catholic Easter, which is still waiting to be eaten.  Wink

In my basket after the services at around 3 AM, I have had for the past few years eaten cold cuts, gourmet (and regular) cheeses, Choclates and a nice 20 oz Microbrew/Import.  About 10 hours or so later (after the Agape Vespers), we have our potluck BBQ, so the works.

Far more enjoyable will be my inaugural Pascha Bonfire...when I torch every jar of peanut butter I can find within three miles.  College meal plans were not designed with Orthodox students in mind.  :flame:

Okay, Veniamin, that post was just VICIOUS and I, for one will not stand for it.

This aggression will not stand, man.  Your diatribe against PB is, quite simply, bordering on heresy.

Peanut Butter is nearly perfect.  How can you *ever* say anything bad about PB.

Okay, maybe I like PB too much.  Last year I didn't eat any during Lent because I enjoy it way too much.

If you like, I can box it up and ship it to you.  You're in H-town, right?  Postage for PB from SA can't be that bad.  Grin

Man, you need to go to a school where they provide options for vegetarians and vegans! I could always manage when I lived in the dorm Smiley

I go to an RCC school, so I think they do it out of spite.  Wink

What, all RCC love their meat?

I think it just comes from living in TX compared to the "east."  More veggietarians here than in the south. And I know, I lived in TX.

Even the veggeterian food is smothered in cheese.  I think that explains why SA is one of the fattest cities in the country.

Breaking the fast...
Can't wait, as I'm REALLY sick of tuna (yeah, I eat fish during lent except the first and last weeks).
The plan so far is after services at 4 AM on Sunday, going and pigging out in the church hall, watching the sunrise, and then dawgwoods at Denny's.  Such has been the tradition these last few years.  And of course I'll break down and have a strawberry/chocolate milkshake there, after which, my tolerance of lactose being 0, I won't feel to well, but still well enough to after waking up before vespers and pig out on ham and my mom's awesome potato salad... Salivating already, or maybe it's because I haven't had my dinner yet (frozen veggies, shrimp and rice... I think I might just go to the gym instead and have a protien bar.)

Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

That's the problem, Ven. There's no vegan food, whereas here, there is.

Back in my family, the majority do not like margeritsa (except for myself and perhaps my oldest boy).

After one of our first ever Paschas we rushed home and all we could find was several cans of spam. We grilled that up and the kids enjoyed it so it's now become a regular tradition for us: the Homecoming Spam, as we call it. It's basicallythe only time we eat it, so my kids always associate it with Pascha. But then again, we always have been considered a bit 'redneck-ish'; just ask my other HCHC posters here!

Strangely this Lent I have been craving kokkoretsi.... that plus a chicken fried steak, perhaps on Bright Monday!
