It's a hand censer. Pendant censers (strung with chains and swung) are only permitted for use by ordained clergy, hence the nun/abbess's rather fancy alternative, complete with bells.

They are also often used for non-Sunday services during Lent as a more solemn alternative to the "chain censer."

And during Holy Week (technically part of Lant but I'm being specific).
It's called πύραυνος in ancient Greek, κατζίον (katzíon) in Byzantine Greek; the Byzantine name is probably a borrowing from Latin. I've heard it as Αθωνικό κατζίον (Athonite katzion)

ὁ τοὺς λογισμοὺς ἐν βοαῖς μισῶν φιλεῖ.
Ἀνδρῶν δὲ ἄσμα δευτερότριτε βρέμεις.

If you add "&t=5m4s" , for example, to the end of the URL, the video will start playing at that time.

It is also a Holy Week censer. If you look at the rubrics for Holy Week at least in the Antiochian tradition, they specify that the Priest is to cense with the Hand Censer at the beginning of the Matins services for Holy Week, (The Bridegroom, Holy Thursday and Holy Friday) and during the Royal Hours on Holy Friday.

I was hoping to see a picture of one, something crazy like in that one spanish church (or is it in italy?) with the huge censer flying all over the church on a long rope.

The botafumeiro is awesome.  The hymn sung while this is going on makes the whole thing look odd.  They need to get some Te Deum up in there.

I have my volume on this tablet off so I didn't hear the hymn, but I wasn't expecting to see that massive censer flying everywhere. Wow. Pretty neat though.

We usually use a little spoon to put incense in ours. What would they use, a trowel?  :D

More like a bucket. It would be very expensive to fill that BOMB.

The large censer is in the Cathedral of St. James in northern Spain.

You put incense in a hand censer the same way that you put it on a regular censer with a small spoon.
