Hi All,
I have been a lurker here for about 2 years but never wanted to post. Here is something thats been bothering me about the board. This board seems to have a lot of anti-Slavic and specifically pro-Greek bias. Let me try to point out what I mean:
1) Anastasios. This guy is so obviously enamored with the Greeks that its disturbing. He seems to like a certain bishop and Church in Astoria that is Greek and compares all other Orthodox groups to them. I think they are Old Calendar.
2) Mor Ephrem. He constantly points out that his Syrian tradition is superior to the Byzantine Rite, and that he dislikes various Russian practices because the Greek way is better.
3) Prodromos. A moderator/poster living in Greece.
4) Nektarios. A moderator with strongly pro-Greek views, despite occasional flirtations with ROCOR.
5) Arimethea. An Antiochian afficionado.
6) I also have it on good info that Robert is also a crypto-GOC supporter. So obviously this board moderatorship is overwhelmingly pro-Greek or at least anti-Slav from my experience. Now Pedro seems to be the most moderate, along with ania, and Bogo seems to be totally pro-Slav, so I will throw that in for fairness.
Among posters, we have Aristokles who is extremely pro-EP and the Holy Cross Trio that seem to attack Slavic views on things at any point, degrading our holy Patriarch Alexsy, etc. This is all so very disturbing to me. I would like to see more Slavic representation like we see with Orthodoc and Bogo!
Sincerely,
Jerry "SlavicGuy"

I don't think there is a bias of ANY kind on this board. We have posters of all different stripes and viewpoints and the dominant voices go through phases. This is a pan-Orthodox board and everyone is welcome here to post if they do so reasonably. And yes, I do like a certain church in Astoria but that is none of your business Anastasios

I am new in orthodoxcristianity.net so I cannot verify what Jerry/SlavGuy posted.
My comment is that no one can deny himself/herself.
Being Greek, Russian, Slav or anything else for that matter is inextricable part of being someone.
I understand that anyone might feel offended or degraded by others.
There is only one way to keep inequality out of the board.
Not to fight against those who fight against someone but to share humbleness.

SlavGuy,

Uh...no, I am not. I am amazed at how many Greeks and Greek supporters there are here. Any critique of the EP and one is assaulted by the regular Greeks, and Anastasios and the other people whom I suspect of being Old Calendarists, while they don't support the EP, they extol Greek praxis to the detriment of Russian praxis. In honor of you, I am changing my username. Jerry

I happen to live in Greece, so what! Have you noticed any particular bias in my moderating? If so I hope you will point it out to me.

Prodromos,
I think your a cool mod, I just am pointing out that Greeks/Greek Orthodox overwhelm non-Greeks/non-Greek Orthodox here on the mod staff.

I am not a troll, I am concerned about this. If I am wrong, I will admit it. Can you show me how the board is either fair, or biased the other direction?

Ha, I wonder how you think you can prove this alleged bias, SlavGuy? I think you should give up now. Also, while I don't mind being critiqued, I don't think it's cool that you critiqued my mods. They are strictly volunteer and deserve better respect.

Fine, I can see you all don't like me. No wonder I never registered in 2 years. I am going back to lurking. I still think this board is biased though towards Greeks.

Actually, I think that there is far too much of an Orthodx Christian bias on this board.

Considering Orthodoxy is biased towards Hellenism, it's only natural you get a feeling this forum is biased towards the Greeks.
Although I have to admit I thought the forum was biased towards Slavs when I first came here.

This thread is ridiculous. I think I'll just close it. I'm sure some other people would have liked to have responded but I don't want this to escalate.
