"as [you've] informed us that respect chills love, it is natural to conclude that all your pretty flights arise from your pampered sensibility; and that, vain of this fancied preeminence of organs, you foster every emotion till the fumes, mounting to your brain, dispel the sober suggestions of reason. It is not in this view surprising that when you should argue you become impassioned, and that reflection inflames your imagination instead of enlightening your understanding." - Mary Wollstonecraft

These Hobbit movies have been oh so very disappointing. :(

How so? They weren't too bad.

The Pirates of the Caribbeanesque action scenes unfortunately are.

I'm disappointed by all the extra-fluff and fan fiction that Jackson put into these. I felt like the LORT films were much better, but that might be because the source material was better.

Studio just got greedy, knowing it could get more money from us by making three movies stretched out like taffy instead of two solid movies.

But we all know we're gonna see the third one so who can blame them?
Thank you.

I thought the Hobbit movies were entertaining but had very little to do with the book.   Sort of like some people said about the movie Noah, that it was fun to watch but had little to do with the Genesis account.  So,  I enjoyed them for what they were but when I want Tolkien,  I go back to the book.  I thought the LotR movies were much better and I really felt like I was in Middle Earth.  Not so with the Hobbit movie, but it's still fun to watch.

At this point I would rather read the book than watch the movie version.

The movies were sweet; I only just started the book - I'm looking forward to see how Tolkien renders Bombur's bouncy barrel scene in prose.
