Christ is Risen!

Modern translations of the Holy Week services have translated the Greek, νυμφωνά, as Wedding Hall as opposed to Bridal Chamber.  Does this make sense?

I see your Wedding Hall adored O My Saviour....  Huh

Αληθώς Ανέστη!

That sounds awful. Wedding hall sounds like where you have a wedding reception. There are some inexcusably bad translations from the GOA, IMHO. Δικαιώματα should not be translated as "rules of life" either. Bleh. For a jurisdiction that has, IMO, the best chanting and other traditions really needs better translations. Holy Transfiguration Monastery's are great, for example.

In Christ,

I've never heard the wedding hall one. Only the bridal chamber one.  Smiley

Strictly speaking, yes, but as a matter of aesthetics and modern connotations, best go with bridal chamber.

In all fairness, Bridal Chamber was chanted more times than Wedding Hall - although when I first heard Wedding Hall, I was thinking of Jesus adorning one of these places and I had to stop and pause....   Shocked

Plus, I'm not interested in paying $25 for a Holy Week service book with "modern" translations that sound more awkward than King James English.
