I thought this sounded familiar...

Apolytikion, Tone 1, by Antonis

An eloquent crafter of divine posts
And an inheritor of the line of the Baptist
A righteous son of India
And a new apostle to the internet
O Holy Mor Ephrem,

Because we're hipsters.

I heard that Mor Ephrem is addicted to cocaine. Pass it on.

Awed by the beauty of perceptivity
And the exceeding sassiness of your commentary
OC.net stood amazed and cried to thee

He forgot where he asked the question, before.

Conquer evil men by your gentle kindness, and make zealous men wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of legality to shame by your compassion. With the afflicted be afflicted in mind. Love all men, but keep distant from all men.

To answer you second question: The first bar represents the sign that was placed above Christ with the inscription "King of the Jews" in ( I think ) Aramaic, Latin and Hebrew letters.  The bottom bar represents the "foot" rest that was tilted when as tradition has it, the spear pierced Christ's side.
As far as why the Orthodox adopted the 'three bar cross' I will leave that to others.   One think I can tell you is that it is exclusive to the Eastern parts of Europe especially Russians, Slavs, and Ukrainians.
