Roommates
« on: April 08, 2014, 06:26:58 PM »
This thread is for those who have a hate/love relationship with those who share a house/apt with you. Come here and rant about how your roomie didn't do the dishes and didn't pay you on time or how much you love living with them, maybe a little too much...

Currently my ears are bleeding because my roommate is "singing" with his headphones in and he doesn't realize how bad he sounds solo. The dogs howl, I'm not even joking.

Maybe everybody here just loves their roommates that much. :P

I gave up on roommates 6 years ago....

not that I didn't get along, I just found myself never wanting to inconvenience others....so i hampered my enjoyment of shared spaces....and if i am going to hole myself up in a tiny room all the time....i might as well just get a tiny full apartment....so i don't have to 'sneak' around trying not to bother others....

In college, I had a roommate who was pledging a fraternity.  One day, I answered the phone and one of the frat brothers was looking for the pledge.  I told the brother that the pledge wasn't here and if I could take a message.  The brother accused me of lying and let's just say that I became very unchristian towards the brother.  The brother hung up the phone and I told my roommate that I wasn't going to tolerate any more stuff from his fraternity.  The brothers behaved themselves after that.

Roommates should take care not to walk around the apartment naked in front of each other.

Roommates should play music at appropriate levels or use headphones.

And that's all I got. :)

My friend had a roommate in college that would only eat Ramen noodles. To make that worse, he only had a single tall coffee cup and one fork to eat them with, which he never washed.

To truly feel the ramen in your bones and sinews you must allow it to permeate everything that is yours. You cannot 'become the ramen' through half-measures.

I don't have a roommate, unless you want me to complain about myself.  But boy do I have stories from when I was in college...
How this relates to the coming Antichrist? I don't know...

Roomates= My newly bought sack of onions gone in 4 days. My best knife blunted from descaling frozen fish.  That ancient bottle of shampoo that sits in the shower and is perpetually topped-up with water.

One of my roommates is this guy I really like. The other two definitely don't pull their weight around here. They never pick up after themselves and they constantly expect me to make their meals and do their laundry with mine.

Every time his brother stays over, my roommate could be a little less uncharitable towards him.

That's really the only serious complaint I can think of.

I have zero roommate experience. I've only ever shared living space with my parents or a man I was romantically involved with.

Guilty on the never picking up. Never did like letting other people do my laundry, and I usually ended up cooking more meals at home than either of my female chef room-mates back when I had them.

On the drive home, I recalled another complaint.

Since I’m not legally allowed to drive (or really want to, for that matter), I let my roommate use my car for whatever he needs.

Really, the least he could do is not mess with my music! >:(

See I'm fine doing laundry and cooking, and I keep my place near-barren; my crazy is in other areas. :P

I was fired from my library assistant job at a college, because my roomate decided to burglarize one of the college's buildings.  Guilt by association.  Zany!

Especially women who have grown up as only children, or with sisters and no brothers. There are certain immutable characteristics of the male of the species which can only be experienced at close range, and which the vast majority of females find, erm, distasteful. I do feel sorry for brotherless girls, as they have MUCH to learn, and fast, once they share a place or tie the knot.

Laugh along, or ignore, are the only ways. Fighting fire with fire is also good. "Changing them" is utterly futile.  ;)

If you're talking about men being messier or cruder, I'm sure you're normally right, but sometimes the opposite is true!
