I use Firefox as my primary web browser even though I have other browsers installed (e.g. Opera).  Some websites (like this one) work fine under Firefox while loading other websites either times out or refuses to load.  These websites load fine under Opera.

I checked for malware - found none.

I use the HTTPS Everywhere add-on under Firefox.  I also turned off IP V6 support.

Anyone have any ideas?   Huh

I've been having more problems with firefox as of late.  PDFs just don't workt he majority of the time so things like online plan rooms I have to go to chrome to use.  If I had to switch back to IE (or as I call it: Firefox Downloader) I'd probably just toss my computer and get real friends or something.

Clear history, cookies, and cashe

Turn off DNS prefetching.

You also might want to turn off any extensions and see if the affected sites load.

I cleared history, cookies and cache.

I turned off DNS prefetching.

I started Firefox in safe mode without any extensions.

I still can't access Yahoo, Google, Microsoft and Mozilla.org from Firefox.

I suspect the problem is with my ISP and how the ISP deals with Firefox version 28.  I can traceroute to Yahoo, Mozilla.org and Google (not Microsoft).

Hopefully, the issue will resolve itself.   Undecided

If this helps, nslookup now returns IPV6 and IPV4 network addresses and Yahoo, Mozilla.org and Google use IPV6 addresses for their DNS servers.

I configured Firefox to not use a network proxy when accessing the Internet.  That resolved the access problems.
