Have the powers-that-be here ever thought about putting forward a proposal that they'd do some upgrading or adding to the site if people would be willing to donate the extra money to get that done? While I assume some things under the hood have improved (e.g., security), we seem to have quite a few less public features/things-going-on now than 8 years ago.

Why not start an un-official chatroom? I can imagine the mods have lots of other things to do.

Are you aware of what happened the last time that was done?  Tongue

But I don't care enough to organize such a thing. I would just drop in if there was an official one available and it didn't have to be promoted as some off-site unofficial thing.

I've been told. Still, what makes you think it wouldn't happen again?

It probably would happen again. That's one reason I have no interest in pursuing that route.  Smiley

According to this thread we aren't even allowed to start a chatroom. Unless that thread is no longer valid.

Most web hosts have a cpanel plugin for a simple java chat.  Should be easy to do.

Chat room.

Because arguing in real time will go soooooo much better than asynchronous arguing.

Usually there were actual discussions, and rarely debates about Jews, pews, contraception, etc. I mean, the subject matter wasn't necessarily everyone's cup of tea, but what can you do. Though the reason things ended badly probably had mostly to do with crudity. That and a really miffed Admiral of the photo hibernation section.
