I came across this event from the British Orthodox Church:

http://www.orthodoxpilgrimages.co.uk/

I always feel like I am missing out when I see stuff like this.  Where I live, the closest thing there is to a pilgrimage site is the Hollywood Walk of Fame.   Smiley

Maybe if Fr. Peter sees this, he can tell us more about it.

I wish there were a British Orthodox Church in the U.S.

I can see it now "the British Orthodox Church of the United States of America within the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria, Egypt." Tongue

Amen.  I'd fully support a British Orthodox mission to the former colonies!   Wink

Yes, I have organised a Pilgrimage/Retreat to the South-West of England, 26th-30th May. It is fully inclusive of accommodation and travel etc once participants arrive at the place we are staying, which is a small hotel In Teignmouth run by a contact of mine who is Reader in Early Medeiaval Archaeology at Winchester University.

There will be Morning and Evening Prayers according to the Orthodox Tradition each day, with a spiritual reflection on a theme throughout the week. In the evenings there will also be some interesting lectures on the history of the early Church in the area and in the UK.

We plan to visit Buckfast Abbey, the Shrine of St Wita at Whitchurch Canonicorum, Glastonbury Abbey and Wells Cathedral, Tintagel and some of the Holy Wells and crosses of Cornwall.

It looks like being spiritually fruitful and lots of fun.

Please visit the website and book your space. Places are limited. Visit the Registration Page for details of costs...

It was great fun. The hosts were welcoming and made us feel part of their family. We visited many interesting places and were guided around by well informed friends and experts.

Next year I am planning a retreat that will not travel around much, just an afternoon out, with the rest of the time spent near our base.

I am also planning another travelling around exploring early Christianity week.

And I am planning a week studying one of the ancient language, possibly New Testament Greek.

I'll post some pictures this afternoon.
