For those of you who think there are more abortions in America all the time - well, there aren't.

Abortions per capita are now at the lowest mark since 1973.

Hmmm.

Well, a drop is a drop. At least that's something. It appears to be due to increased use of birth control.

I'm guessing here, but if you did a statistical analysis of actual abortions pre-Roe and today, the percentage per 1000 pregnancies may not be statistically at variance with the pre-Roe numbers, accurate numbers of which are not really available. Before you all jump on me, I am not defending, nor is that a defense of legal abortion (or illegal abortion)  but rather it is an indictment of those who think that making Roe vanish will do anything more than sweep the issue off of the political page and under the carpet.

Political malaise is a reflection of spiritual malaise, the decline of 'national values' reflects the decline of spiritual values.

Today just what are we obsessing about in our culture in the US?  The best marketing campaign unleashed during the 'Super Bowl', the antics of Justin Beiber and Miley Cyrus and the death of a talented actor to a heroin overdose who left behind 'a partner (a long time girlfriend) and three young children.'

Out of pure curiosity, what is national values exactly?

Forgive us as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Education and mercy are working better than laws, as God showed us through Jesus .

Yea, well, everyone's using a helluva lot more birth control now than in 73.

Then they got that RU486 or something ABORTION PILL that's ending life just like the real thing but don't count in the record books.

I think your/their stats are a bit slanted, they are still preventing or killing life in large numbers, regardless if abortions are "down".

And Birth control and abortifacients are still condemned by the Church last time I checked.

ONe thing I don't understand (among many things) is how even the most ardent pro-choice people on the planet will still say (maybe not actually believe, but say) that abortion is a tragedy and should be made rare (Remember Clinton's dictum of safe, legal and RARE?).  What is rare, then?  55 million over 41 years does not strike me as rare at all. And why is that not tragic to them?

(Mods:  If this looks political and I don't feel it is, feel free to move)
