Abba Pachom and St. Cyril, Pray for us!

« on: January 26, 2014, 04:54:08 PM »

Okay here it is:
In the EO view, is it impossible for me to go to Heaven because I am a Coptic Orthodox Chritian?
Vice versa: Do we as OO believe that EO can go to Heaven? (I certainly do.)
What do we both believe about Catholics getting into Heaven?
Be honest on what you and your church believe, but be respectful.
Pray for me.

Should I delete this topic? I'm new to this site and not sure if you're telling me to or suggesting. And if so, how do I delete it?

Suffice it to say, the very fact that the owners of this forum do not permit anti-OO polemic, require OO to be considered Orthodox and that most of us know OO faithful within our EO communities where there are no OO parishes, I think you can draw your own conclusion as to where most of us here are on your subject.

Besides, none of us 'know' who is going to 'get into heaven', least of all as to ourselves!

Welcome and don't be shy!

Looking at the times. It was just a double post.

I think, but do not know for certain, that most Eastern Orthodox (I am but one) on this forum believe that Oriental Orthodox have about as much chance as we do.

In regard to Roman Catholics, we do not know, but we hope so. Some likely take this position for the Oriental Orthodox as well.

I think a safe, more conservative answer would be that we cannot comment on the salvation of those outside the Church.

However, as podkarpatska points out, we cannot even speak with certainty of our own salvation!

Congrats (I guess).

You should probably do a couple hundred prostrations while reciting the Jesus prayer, just to be safe. Wink

Forgive me if my posts have lacked humility or tact. Please note that some of my older posts -especially those pre-dating late 2012- may not necessarily reflect my current views.
