My addiction and alcohol withdrawal
« on: January 25, 2014, 02:47:32 PM »
I've been drinking heavily everyday for 3 years (with the exception of a 2 week period in inpatient rehab about a year and a half ago) to self-medicate PTSD symptoms.  With our Lord's and St. Ephraim's help, I finally put the bottle down this last Wednesday, the 22nd.  Right now I am in the time window for the worst part of withdrawal and it is a painful nightmare.  Please pray for me.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Prayers! Lord have mercy!
Bad times, hard times, this is what people keep saying; but let us live well, and times shall be good. We are the times: Such as we are, such are the times. -St. Augustine

Lord, have mercy. Most Holy Mother of God, save us.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

Lord have mercy.

O most Holy Theotokos, save us.
The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai

All,

I went to the clinic today because of recurrent withdrawal symptoms, and was told I was experiencing the death throes of withdrawal.  It appears I am in the clear, and your prayers carried me through it.  Thank you very, very much for your prayers.

Your Brother in Christ,
Michael

Thanks be to God.

May He preserve you and grant you strength to fight against this temptation.
