I visited him with my grandparents (his sister and brother-in-law) a couple days ago at his house for the first time in 8 years.
Without going into too much detail, I'm requesting even more prayers for him...
Not necessarily his physical health, as that's a lost cause--he's going to die within a few months--but more so for his spiritual and emotional health right now.
He's a wreck. I feel a great deal of sorrow for him. He is very bitter inside and miserable, I could tell that he's harboring a deep, existential grief and loneliness. His house is a mess with old liquor bottles and cigarette butts everywhere, and a huge layer of animal hair blanketing everything from his three dogs and 4 cats. He's also putting himself in danger because his massive collection of firearms are just lying everywhere around the house, loaded, and in dangerous places like cabinets and underneath couch cushions. He is also being taken advantage of by a manipulative 50 year old woman that dresses and acts like she's 20 and is having him buy her motorcycles, expensive clothing, and causing him to drink more and more.
He still loves God though. He talked to me a bit about his Orthodoxy and we shared our experiences with each other as we both converted form hostile families. He still makes an effort to read his nightly prayers, even in his bad health and emotional state. I feel a great deal of sorrow for him. He needs help from above.
